Traces

There are places that, once you leave them, somehow keep coming back.

They return in a photograph, in a detail we had missed, in the light of a particular day. They return in a plant we stopped to look at for a few minutes, in a conversation that began along a path, in the feeling of having been, if only for a few hours, a little closer to the mountains.

Another season at Saussurea Botanical Garden has now come to an end.

These have been months filled with people, encounters, curiosity and small moments that, together, tell much more than the story of a botanical season. There were busy days and quieter ones, those visiting for the first time and those who now know these paths almost like home. Some stopped in front of a flower, some asked questions, some took photographs, others simply walked, letting themselves be surprised.

And perhaps that is the most beautiful thing about a garden: it is never quite the same place for everyone who passes through it.

Thank you to everyone who made the journey up here.
To those who walked slowly. To those who stopped. To those who looked closely. To those who shared a photograph, a thought, a story. And also to those who passed through only for a moment, leaving something behind all the same.

Now the garden changes its pace.

The gates close, the paths grow quieter, and the mountain slowly takes back its spaces.

For now, we will hold on to what this season has left us.

And perhaps that is the beauty of certain places: you don’t have to be there all the time to still feel them close.

Thank you, Saussurea.
We’ll meet again when the time is right.
